Healthy meals, time in nature, and strong community fosters a spirit of helpfulness, engagement, and social consciousness that stays with campers well after they go home.
SPECIAL NEEDS CAMPERS: Circle Pines strives to meet the needs of all interested campers, but our facilities and programming may not be accessible to everyone. Email us to find out what accommodations we can make for campers of different cognitive, behavioral, or physical abilities. CAMP LOCATION: We are located in southwest Michigan, 25 miles northeast of Kalamazoo and 35 miles southeast of Grand Rapids on 300 arces of rolling hills in beautiful Barry County, near the Yankee Springs Recreation Area.
CAMP FACILITIES: Located on 300 acres of woods and fields and along the shores of spring-fed Stewart Lake, we have four cabin groups for our summer campers, miles of trails, a sandy beach for swimming, playing fields for sports, a historic farmhouse with dining hall and kitchen, and a stone pillered pavilion for theater, dances and other camp activities.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our co-ed residential camp program, open to youth ages 7-17, combines elements of a traditional summer camp (swimming, sports, campfires, hikes, theater, dance, arts and crafts) with cooperative work projects (construction, organic gardening, trail maintenance and cleaning). In addition, educational activities focus on topics like climate change, food politics, social justice, ecosystems and the importance of critical thinking. Our focus on cooperation as an interpersonal strategy and viable economic alternative is embodied in our daily chores, work projects, decision making, camp store and other activities. We strive to build an inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds, incomes, faiths, ethnicities, and gender identities.
We also offer several weekend programs for families throughout the year, such as Maple Syrup Weekends, Apple Cider Weekends, Spanish Immersion Weekends, and the Buttermilk Jamboree music festival. For more information, visit our website at: Our Camp Website Link: www.circlepinescenter.org.
CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Young Adult Leader or YAL program serves campers who are 16 or 17 years old. They work closely with counselors to design a schedule that allows them to assist in various areas of camp like the waterfront, kitchen, or construction site, to get an idea for what type of camp employment they might seek in the future. While still participating in camp activities, they have some added responsibility to help lead programming and provide supervision.
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Financial aid available.
FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Apple Cider weekend, Maple Syrup weekend, and Spanish Immersion weekend are just a few of the programs that Circle Pines Center offers throughout the year to people and families of all ages. See our web site for more details, at: Our Camp Website Link: www.circlepinescenter.org.
